Description

The Imbros Gorge is an 8-kilometer-long hike from the village of Imbros to the southern coast of the island of Crete, Greece. It ends near the road leading into the town of Sfakia. During my first hike up the gorge, I came upon this Mediterranean Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) growing on the edge of the upper gorge trail. That it was alive, and thriving having plunged its tap root down through the rock was simply astounding
